Our History

Grodzinski Bakery Established 1888
Harris and Judith Grodzinski leave the shtetl of Varanova (now in Belarus), and establish a bakery at 31 Fieldgate Street in the Jewish East End of London.

The new Dunsmure Road shop
Bertha buys Mr Hurstleigh’s bakery at 91 Dunsmure Road, Stamford Hill and so establishes Grodzinski’s second bakery.

Rapid Expansion
Bertha’s older sons Harry and Ruby join the business and rapidly enlarge. By the outbreak of war, Grodzinski has four more shops in Stoke Newington, Willesden, Cricklewood and Hendon. Barrow rounds also deliver to households in these areas

24 shops around London
Grodzinski now has twenty-four shops around London. Emmanuel Grodzinski, the first of the fourth generation, joins the business followed over the next two decades by David, Jonathan, Daniel and Monica.

75th Anniversary
Jonathan Grodzinski and family welcome you to the 75th-anniversary celebrations at 91 Dunsmure Road.
